The sea

With more than 3610 km of coastline, the sea is obviously an important element of Oman history and culture. Omani people were also sailors – some consider that Sinbad the sailor in One Thousand and One Nights was originally from Oman – which gives sense to the fact that the historical empire extended from Pakistan to Zanzibar. As such, Oman offers the opportunity for many activities in relation to the sea, such as diving, snorkeling, fishing, turtle seeing or even just sunbathing. In Oman, you’ll be able to see and even experience touring in dhows, the traditional wooden vessels, in Muscat, Sur, Daymaniyat Islands or even the exclave of Musandam.
