With more than 3610 km of coastline, the sea is obviously an important element of Oman history and culture. Omani people were also sailors – some consider that Sinbad the sailor in One Thousand and One Nights was originally from Oman – which gives sense to the fact that the historical empire extended from Pakistan to Zanzibar.
